J-1 Visa Sponsorship

The J-1 Program of Camphill Village USA

Camphill Village USA is designated by the US Department of State to assist individuals to come to the United States for a period of up to twelve months (one year) in the category of Intern. (We are not approved for Trainees.)

We are approved in the fields of Education, Social Sciences, Counseling, and Library Science. (We are NOT approved in fields like Business, Design, Economics, Engineering, Hospitality, Law, etc.)

An Intern participates in a structured and guided work-based learning program as set forth in an individualized Training/Internship Placement Plan that reinforces an intern’s academic study; recognizes the need for work-based experience; provides on-the-job exposure to American techniques, methodologies, and technologies; and enhances the Intern’s knowledge of American culture and society.

Interns must be currently enrolled in a university program or have completed one not more than a year before the start date of their Internship.

Camphill Village USA works with you (the prospective intern) and the prospective host organization (or host employer or activity site) to collect information in order to issue you the official forms you need to get a J-1 visa. As your Sponsor, Camphill Village USA informs you of the procedures for entering the US as a J-1 Intern and the rules governing the J-1 Intern program. Camphill Village USA also informs your host organization of the rules and collects the required performance evaluations on you from your host.

As your Sponsor, Camphill Village USA checks in with you to make sure things are OK, and helps you find the information you need to have a safe and successful stay in the US. We make sure you and your host have communicated clearly about your salary and benefits, if any, and any additional costs charged by your host. The Sponsor makes sure you know how to find a place to live in the US during your internship.

Please note that at the present time Camphill Village USA cannot match you with a host. You must find and link up with your host yourself. Camphill Village cannot provide you with a place to live or transportation to your internship. This must be worked out between you and your host organization.

Our fees for providing a sponsorship are very reasonable. For more information, contact Bernard Wolf, Responsible Officer at bwolf@beaverrun.org or telephone 610-469-9757.

Camphill Village is closed to visitors until further notice. We hope everyone can understand the threat COVID-19 poses is far too great for us to remain open. You can learn all about the measures we're taking to stay healthy for each other here.
