Fountain Hall Geo-Thermal System:
A
geo-thermal system was installed during construction of the additions to Fountain Hall in 2000 and 2001. The heat-exchangers are linked to a two-fan air-handling system that provides cooling of the auditorium in the summer and heating of the auditorium during the rest of the year. The remainder of Fountain Hall is heated through a conventional wet-system with radiators.
The air-conditioning systems works well and provides much needed relief during hot summer days or weeks. The two fans allow for low noise operation as only one fan will run when the measured temperature is close to the desired temperature.
The system has not always been used to heat the auditorium during cold periods as the original radiators are still installed and working and there is a resistance to the slight noise and air-flow of the air-handling system.
No cost saving data has been recorded.
